Information

In a school everyone assumes they know a lot about the people around them. The grown-ups in particular reckon they have their young charges pretty well sized up. But what happens when we all step out of our familiar roles and sally forth together, avoiding the beaten paths of mutual categorisations? And so a plan is hatched. Pupils, teachers, parents and other staff associated with the Hector-Peterson-Schule in the Berlin borough of Kreuzberg set off with Berlin musicians and the Deutsche Oper Berlin on a musical adventure. In place of luggage and food our intrepid participants have their musical culture and experiences. Traditional folksongs, hip hop, new and classical music, dub step… how’s that all going to fit together? A group of artists and composer/director Alexandra Holtsch will spend a time in the school and opera house soaking up the music of the various project participants. The project will culminate in an evening performance reflecting the diverse musical influences encountered.
