They talk of drugs, decay and schizophrenia. They love pop, beat and rock'n'roll. Based on E.T.A. Hoffmann's novel "The Devil's Elixir", 'M & The Acid Monks' charts the trials and tribulations of a talented young man treading the thin line separating grandiosity from despair, a monk's asceticism from unbridled excess, as he searches for his own identity, pursued by a doppelganger who sends him insane. Basel band "The bianca Story" is known for its cross-genre projects, and so it is with its 'M & The Acid Monks', which the band worked on with director Daniel Pfluger and musician Victor Moser [Adapt]. 'M & The Acid Monks' blurs the boundaries between theatre, performance and concert and immerses the audience in a world of dreams and nightmares.
Coproduction with Kaserne Basel, KIFF Aarau and Rote Fabrik Zurich (Premiere December 2011)
