Information

A jury chaired by Prof. Manfred Trojahn has already selected three winners from a field of 42, awarding three grants for the composition of a new work of musical theatre. For the New Scenes II project the three composers team up with three young authors, graduates of the “Writing for the Stage” course taught by John von Düffel at the Berlin University of the Arts. They will create a 3-part work, each of the three sections being directed by a different student from the Direction class at the Hanns Eisler School of Music, which will also provide the ensemble of soloists and musicians conducted by Manuel Nawri.

NEW SCENES II addresses a highly topical issue at the fault line between private sphere and public domain – espionage. The compositions will transform the scenarios conjured up by the librettists into universally relevant pieces that combine music and drama, convey subjective attitudes and evoke sympathy and antipathy.

In cooperation with Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“
