Little brothers are a nuisance. They are loud, always play differently than you want them to – and chase you out of your mother's bed: Hoshe is now too big and Elli is old enough to sleep alone in the children's room. But Elli doesn't feel comfortable there. How can she know that in the dark, when the lights are out, everything will stay the same and nothing will change? Because one night it happens. Elli finds herself in the house of the octopus lady. Here, door knobs, walls and floors come to life, she meets her goldfish Mr Puddles again – and ultimately learns that even the lady, despite her suction cups, ink and tentacles, has fears that she can only overcome with Elli's help.
OCTOPUS LADY is a musical theatre production for children aged five and above, commissioned by the Deutsche Oper Berlin from composer Sidney Corbett and his daughter, librettist Chiara Corbett. It continues the successful series of new musical theatre works for children and young people premiered in the carpentry workshop of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
