In today's advent calendar window we are giving away 3 signed CDs of "The Great Puccini" by Jonathan Tetelman. If you would like to win one of the three CDs, please write an e-mail today with the subject "The 3rd window" to advent@deutscheoperberlin.de.
Jonathan Tetelman is regarded as one of the most exciting young stars of our time and is praised for his "vocally magnificent, radiant and unmistakable tenor voice" (Opera Aktuell). The tenor, who was born in Chile and grew up in New Jersey, performs on the stages of renowned houses with world-famous orchestras and demonstrates his skills in a "dark-coloured tenor timbre" (SZ) and with "balmy verve" (Der Tagesspiegel). This season you may have seen him here as Benjamin Franklin Pinkerton in MADAMA BUTTERFLY or as Luigi in Pinar Karabulut's new production of IL TABARRO. In recent seasons, he has also appeared here as Paolo il Bello in Christof Loy's acclaimed production of FRANCESCA DA RIMINI and as Cavaradossi in TOSCA. In October, Jonathan Tetelman signed three copies of his latest CD "The Great Puccini", which we are giving away today in this Advent window.
Jonathan Tetelman's debut album for Deutsche Grammophon, "Arias", was enthusiastically received by critics on its release last summer and earned the singer the Opus Klassik Award 2023 "Young Artist of the Year". The Chilean-American tenor would now like to build on this success with a tribute to Puccini, the centenary of whose death will be celebrated in 2024. "The Great Puccini" presents excerpts from nine operas, including well-known arias such as "Nessun dorma", "Che gelida manina" and "E lucevan le stelle", but also hidden gems from lesser-known operas such as LE VILLI and LA RONDINE. The album was recorded earlier this year in Prague with the PKF - Prague Philharmonia under the direction of Carlo Rizzi and features notable guest appearances by sopranos Vida Mikneviciute (Giorgetta in IL TABARRO) and Federica Lombardi (Mimì in LA BOHÈME).
Closing date: 3 December 2023, the winners will be informed by email on 4 December 2023. The CDs will then be sent by post. Legal recourse is excluded.
