Gilbert Deflo

Der flämische Regisseur Gilbert Deflo studierte am Institut National Supérieur des Arts et du Spectacle in Brüssel und ging anschließend nach Mailand. Bei Giorgio Strehler am Piccolo Teatro di Milano fand er eine künstlerische Heimat, die ihn bis heute geprägt hat. Seine erste wichtige Regie war DIE LIEBE ZU DEN DREI ORANGEN in Frankfurt, es folgten Werke wie BORIS GODUNOW, DER BARBIER VON SEVILLA, die deutsche Erstaufführung von LE GRAND MACABRE in Hamburg oder DIE FRAU OHNE SCHATTEN an der Welsh National Opera. Gilbert Deflo hat bis heute über 150 Opern inszeniert, sein Repertoire reicht durch die ganze Operngeschichte: Angefangen bei Monteverdi und Lully bis hin zu Uraufführungen von Werken wie Zemlinskys TRAUMGÖRGE oder Liebermanns LA FORET hat er, zusammen mit namhaften Dirigenten und Bühnenbildnern, darunter besonders mit William Orlandi, in der ganzen Welt inszeniert. Zur Routine ist ihm seine Arbeit dennoch nie geworden. Bei aller Professionalität lässt sich Gilbert Deflo jedesmal wieder aufs Neue von einem Opernwerk begeistern und faszinieren, und das ist, neben Talent, genauer Werkkenntnis und Fantasie, vielleicht das größte Geheimnis seines Erfolges.

On 1 December, it's that time again. Our already traditional Advent calendar welcomes you with free admission. Members of the Deutsche Oper Berlin ensembles look forward to shortening the days until Christmas Eve with personalised musical programmes in which you will hear Christmas classics as well as absolute rarities, perhaps never heard before. Just come by and experience our artists up close.

Enjoy our chamber concerts from Monday to Friday, from 5.00 p.m. to approx. 5.25 p.m., in the rank foyer on the right. Should there be any deviations in the venue or time, you will find a note in the overview. Admission is free.
