Maiju Vaahtoluoto

Die junge finnische Altistin Maiju Vaahtoluoto absolvierte ihr Studium 2017 an der Sibelius-Akademie. Bereits 2011 gab sie ihr Bühnendebüt an der Vaasa Opera als Tyyne in Ilkka Kuusistos Oper ISÄNMAAN TYTTÄRET. An der West Coast Kokkola Opera gestaltete sie Van in Glanerts Oper DER ENGEL AUF DEM SCHIFF und Melindo in Vivaldis LA VERITÁ IN CIMENTO. In ihrer Heimatstadt Savonlinna sang sie Knusperhexe / HÄNSEL UND GRETEL mit dem Savonlinna Orchestra und mit der ESMO Chamber Opera. An der Sibelius-Akademie interpretierte sie die Partie der Natalia Sedova in Kalevi Ahos FRIDA Y DIEGO, Maddalena in Rossinis IL VIAGGIO A REIMS sowie Oberon in Brittens A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, an der Opera Nova Ruusa in Ilkka Kuusistos GABRIEL, TULE TAKAISIN.

Im Rahmen des Savonlinna Opera Festivals sang sie als Großmutter in Pauers ROTKÄPPCHEN und kehrte 2018 als Kate Pinkerton / MADAMA BUTTERFLY dorthin zurück. An der Finnischen Nationaloper in Helsinki sang sie in der Saison 2017/2018 die Partie der 3. Dame / DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE.

In der Spielzeit 2018/2019 bereicherte sie als Stipendiatin des Förderkreises der Deutschen Oper Berlin unser Ensemble und kehrt 2022/23 als Botin / DAS WUNDER DER HELIANE hierher zurück..

Ihr Konzertrepertoire beinhaltet die relevanten Alt-Partie in Johann Sebastian Bachs „Johannespassion“, Melartins 4. Sinfonie, Rossinis „Petite Messe Solennelle“, de Fallas „El Amor Brujo“, Vivaldis „Gloria“, Saint-Saëns’ „Oratorio de Noël“, Mendelssohn Bartholdys „Elias“ und Rachmaninows „Vigilia“.

Maiju Vaahtoluoto gewann den Ersten Preis beim Kangasniemi Singing Competition 2016 und war 2015 Finalistin des Timo Mustakallio Competition.

On 1 December, it's that time again. Our already traditional Advent calendar welcomes you with free admission. Members of the Deutsche Oper Berlin ensembles look forward to shortening the days until Christmas Eve with personalised musical programmes in which you will hear Christmas classics as well as absolute rarities, perhaps never heard before. Just come by and experience our artists up close.
