Birke Mey* (Violoncello), geb. Steudtner, wurde in Leipzig geboren. Nach dem Abitur studierte sie von 1989 bis 1994 an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater »Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy« Leipzig bei Prof. Wolfgang Weber. 1991 gewann sie den Hochschulwettbewerb und erhielt das Gewandhausstipendium. Sie war von 1992 bis 1994 Substitutin im Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. Seit 1994 ist sie Cellistin im Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin.
