Our expert on details from the world of musicology, Dr Dietmar Takt, devotes himself this time to declarations of love from opera and theatre in an unusual way.

The jazz trio Secara / Weniger / Köhler, reinforced by musicians from the big band of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, will provide a special sound and concert experience. To do justice to the theme, the obligatory string quartet must of course not be missing.

The audience will experience some of the most beautiful and well-known love songs from jazz and popular music, but also several new compositions from the pen of the songwriter duo Wolfgang Köhler and Mike Segal.

In its new series of jazz events in the Tischlerei the Big Band of the Deutsche Oper Berlin presents six themed concerts featuring smaller formations of the Big Band and guests. The concerts focus on a particular subject or composer, amalgamating music and poetry. Texts, biographical information, poetry and background information on the evening’s unifying theme combine to produce a unique experience for the audience.
