Premiere postponements 20/21

New date for DAS RHEINGOLD
As a consequence of the far-reaching programme cancellations and changes due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we want to inform you that the premiere of Verdi's SIMON BOCCANEGRA, which was announced for 22 November 2020, will be postponed to the 2022/23 season. And the premiere of DAS RHEINGOLD, planned for mid-June 2020 and then cancelled, is to be made up for on 12 June 2021. The premiere of FIDELIO originally announced for that day will also be postponed to the 2022/23 season.

New date for SIEGRIED
In the interest of greater security, we have decided to postpone the premiere of SIEGFRIED, originally planned for 24 January 2021, until 18 April 2021. This performance of SIEGFRIED would be the continuation of the new production of RING, which began in September 2020 with WALKÜRE, under the musical direction of Sr Donald Runnicles and directed by Stefan Herheim, before being followed by DAS RHEINGOLD on 12 June 2021. The cycle then ends with the premiere of GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG on 17 October 2021.

The new production of the MATTHÄUS-PASSION, originally planned for 25 April, will be postponed to a later season.

We hope to be able to perform the premieres planned for March: THE MAKING OF BLOND by Gesine Danckwart on 5 March in the Tischlerei, and FRANCESCA DA RIMINI on 14 March (musical direction: Carlo Rizzi, director: Christof Loy).

The co-production of the Munich Biennale ONCE TO BE REALISED, originally supposed to premiere in June 2020 in the Tischlerei, has since gone through important rehearsal phases and will premiere in Munich on 3 April 2021 before debuting at the Tischlerei on 16 April. This project, by Michael Marmarinos, is a piece of musical theatre in six parts based on Jani Christou by Beat Furrer, Barblina Meierhans, Olga Neuwirth, Samir Odeh-Tamimi, Younghi Pagh-Paan and Christian Wolff.

The current play schedule with repertoire performances and concerts will be announced soon, pending governmental regulations.
