Great Jubilation
We are thrilled that the recently published critic poll in the publication Opernwelt awarded our new production of Korngold's THE MIRACLE OF HELIANE "Rediscovery of the Year".
We are thrilled that the recently published critic poll in the publication Opernwelt awarded our new production of Korngold's THE MIRACLE OF HELIANE "Rediscovery of the Year". This vote also reflects the unanimous enthusiasm among press and public triggered by Christof Loy's staging and Marc Albrecht's conducting at the premiere on 18 March 2018. And the title character appears to have found her ideal casting in Sara Jakubiak.
We are also excited by the mention of Aribert Reimann's L'INVISIBLE, under the musical guidance of general music director Donald Runnicles and directed by Vasily Barkhatov, as a particularly outstanding premiere in the Top 4. With this production, formed as a commission composition by the Deutsche Oper Berlin based on texts by Maurice Maeterlinck, Aribert Reimann returned to his "head office" in Berlin: at age 18 he had his first position as répétiteur here, and four of his plays were created on commission by the Deutsche Oper Berlin. L'INVISIBLE marked the premiere of his ninth opera.
The fact that Aribert Reimann will be awarded the German theatre prize DER FAUST on 3 November for his life's work is another honour for this great composer, and we offer our warmest congratulations.
And – last but not least – on 6 October the new children's musical theatre of French composer, author and stage designer François Sarhan, NACHT BIS ACHT, directed by Anselm Dalferth, will celebrate its premiere at the Tischlerei. Dalferth was recently nominated for the German theatre prize DER FAUST in the category of children's and youth theatre direction.
