Jorge de León

Jorge De León, geboren in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, studierte in seiner Heimatstadt Musik und Gesang bei Isabel Garcia Soto, später vertiefte er seine Studien bei Giuseppe Valdengo in Italien und bei Alfonso G. Leoz in Spanien.

Er ist Preisträger des internationalen Gesangswettberwerbs „Villa Abaran“ in Murcia und begann seine Karriere als Opern- und Zarzuela-Interpret u. a. im Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), im Palau de la Música de Valencia, im Auditorio del CICCA (Gran Canaria), sowie in Santander, Huelva, Gerona und Galicia. Zu seinen großen Erfolgen in dieser Zeit zählen LA BRUJA von Ruperto Chapí im Rahmen der Saisoneröffnung 2002/2003 am Teatro de La Zarzuela und danach am Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo sowie LOS GAVILANES von Jacinto Guerrero in Valladolid und Oviedo. 2003 sang er überdies EL DÚO DE LA AFRICANA in Tenerife und Madrid. 2004/2005 gewann er den Julian-Gayarre-Competition, den Jose-Carreras-Award und den Jaume-Aragall-Contest.

Schnell eroberte er sich daraufhin die spanischen Bühnen mit Werken wie LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR (Mahon), LA BOHEME und GIANNNI SCHICCHI (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), EL DOMINO AZUL (Madrid), LA CHULAPONA (Oviedo), DOÑA FRANCISQUITA (St. Gallen), LA BRUJA (Valencia, Madrid, Pamplona), IL TABARRO (Menorca), ANDREA CHENIER (Málaga) und MACBETH (Las Palmas).

2010 gab er sein vielbeachtetes Debüt am Teatro Real di Madrid als Andrea Chénier, gefolgt von Turiddu / CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA und LA VIDA BREVE am Palau de Les Arts in Valencia (unter Leitung von Lorin Maazel), Don José / CARMEN in Valencia (unter Leitung von Zubin Mehta) sowie an der Arena di Verona, Benjamin Franklin Pinkerton / MADAMA BUTTERFLY in Teneriffa sowie Radames / AIDA in Valencia unter Leitung von Lorin Maazel und Omer Meir Wellber. 2011 folgten Don José / CARMEN am Teatro San Carlo in Neapel und am Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Mario Cavaradossi / TOSCA in Madrid und in Palermo (in einer Inszenierung von Calixto Bieito) sowie Pinkerton / MADAMA BUTTERFLY in Bari. 2012 gab er schließlich sein Debüt an der Mailänder Scala als Radames / AIDA. LE CID, TOSCA und IL TROVATORE führten ihn nach Valencia und in AIDA an der Arena di Verona.

Zu seinen jüngsten Engagements zählen eine Tournee der Mailänder Scala mit AIDA nach Qatar, Calaf / TURANDOT in Florenz und Tokio unter der musikalischen Leitung von Zubin Mehta, TOSCA in Pamplona und Valladolid, AIDA in Palermo und an der Arena di Verona, MADAMA BUTTERLFY in Barcellona, AIDA an der Scala und in Neapel, CAVALLIERA RUSTICANA in Mailand, TOSCA und Gustav / EIN MASKENBALL an der Deutschen Oper Berlin, CARMEN an der Arena di Verona sowie CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA in Peking.

On 1 December, it's that time again. Our already traditional Advent calendar welcomes you with free admission. Members of the Deutsche Oper Berlin ensembles look forward to shortening the days until Christmas Eve with personalised musical programmes in which you will hear Christmas classics as well as absolute rarities, perhaps never heard before. Just come by and experience our artists up close.
